Life at Minnesota Correctional Facility Togo Working With Adult Female Offenders

It is funny what I remember from my first day at Togo. All I can tell you that sticks out is that MCF-Togo is in the middle of no where, it is errie, and definitely a desolate place........ Next, everyone who works there is very relaxed. I must seem super up tight to them, but I am use to security, security, security!!! To their credit, it is a different type of place altogether, and I liked being relaxed.... perhaps I got too relaxed myself? I was bored, and tired as well and impatient (I know it was a personal problem). Boy I hate to admitt this, but it is hard getting my sleep schedule in place, so I was too tired to find any stimulus at work and zoned out at times. That doesn't help with first impressions. I did seem to perk up when my boss came around though... hmmmmm.......

The only other thing I remember that really sticks out was the typical conversation with the adult female offenders. Yes, typical.... pull your hair out after hearing it ten times typical!!! Here goes:
Them: Permission to speak Ma'am.
Me: "Permission granted."
Them, "Permission to relax ma'am."
Me: "Go ahead."
Them "Permission to use the restroom ma'am"
Me: "Go ahead."
Them: "Permission to be dismissed ma'am"
Me: "Your dismissed."

I mean, wouldn't it be easier for them to say "Can I use the rest room?" Everything is military style, and let me tell you, I would not make a good drill sergeant.

Over all, it is pretty up there though with deer wandering near by at all times, the lakes, and the wilderness surrounding you. It is also very desolate, which is what I thought I would like, but that desolate!!!! I am not quite sure what to make of it yet. I like the great outdoors, but Togo might be a little too far away from civilization. :) Ah well, don't count your chickens before they're hatched, right?
