Sister Bay Wisconsin

So, I recently went on vacation with my parents out to Sister Bay Wisconsin to go Salmon fishing in Lake Michigan. Now, for those of you who aren't familiar with Sister Bay, it is in Door County, the far... far... tip of Wisconsin that branches up into Lake Michigan. Now, fishing Salmon is great, but I have a question, WHY did we drive 9 hours to go Salmon fishing when I very well know there are also Salmon in Lake Superior? Ah well, it was great to get away to some richy tourist town with all the cute shops, and Cherries galor... as that area is known for.... its Cherries... ummm... fresh Cherry pie!!! Any how, I didn't get much time to spend traveling around the touristy stuff since I had a bazzare schedule (I did get to go Parasailing though, fun!), and I refused to miss out on any chances to catch fish, so religiously at 3 am, I woke up and headed out to the Lake every day... if it wasn't thundering or raining that is. We then came in at 9 am, showered, took a nap, and at 2 or 3 pm.... out to fish again until 9 o'clock pm... yeah... You know what the great part is, we kept fishing in the wrong spots!!!! Yes, we did figure it out on the day we left *smirk*. Go figure... Of course, we did catch fish... about one or two a day, so at least I got up early for something, but we should have had 8 a day at least.

The first day, we went in one bay and caught little, the next day we switched bays and caught one or two. The next day we went back to the same bay, and it was windy, so we caught nothing (Salmon usually don't bit much in six foot swells, luckily we had a big boat though :) ). The next day we went to another bay and caught little. The day after that we went back to the bay we caught little in and the next two days we caught one or two fish. Now, the funny part is that the Salmon hadn't moved into the bay we kept fishing in yet, they were in the second bay we had gone to, but whenever we went there it was windy so it wasn't productive so we didn't know... until some buddies from the camp site asked, "So how many fish did you catch this morning?" Our response, "Well one 17.6 pounder." They replied, "Yeah, we got 7 or 8 and so did Chuck, we were over in the other bay, the Salmon haven't moved over to the bay you were fishing in yet." Mind you this was the last day we had open to fish.... Ah well. One cool thing though, I caught a Steelhead.. 9 pounds. It only took me my whole vacation to figure out what exactly a stealhead was... at first I was excited about catching a new fish that I had never caught before, and later I learned that I had caught a steelhead before, since they are really rainbow trout, they just change colors to silvery in the summer... but hey, it was the biggest one I have ever caught thus far.
